Audrey Sees , a performance for littles about ways of knowing
How do we celebrate different ways of knowing?
Audrey Sees is an original Theatre for the Very Young production. Workshopped at Children's Museum of Southern MN, November 2016.
Interactive performance developed for children up to 7 years.
Run time is 40 minutes. Includes performance and play interaction sections.
Throughout 2016 I conducted a series of interviews with my Grandmother, Audrey Flod who was about to run 93 years old. My entire life I have heard stories of unique things my grandmother sees and has seen since she was a very young child. Her unique perspective and way of experiencing the world inspired me to create an original piece of immersive theatre for the very young. As a brand new genre of theatre in the United States, Theatre for the Very Young is a hands-on performance genre designed for the developmental needs of children under 5 years old. Using my grandma’s stories as a jumping off point, I devised an interactive performance experience with another theatre artist using movement, light and shadow play and live music.
Generous funding provided by McKnight/Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council Artist Career Development Grant, 2016.
