Luckily, I continue to push for change and expand making opportunities with youth & families. Since I last wrote in this blog, the driving force of my work has changed.
I used to push for myself. I was focused on building some career that belonged to me alone. It was scary to think what would happen if my ideas got out there (stolen) so I'd hoard them and sell them to the highest bidder. A scarcity mindset has no business trying to make the world better.
Now, I have a wider point of view. The work has always been for and about youth and families. It's to create more space in the world for their ideas so they can shape the world they inhabit. When you know your ideas matter, there's no limits to what you can do. If we create more opportunities to make together, across ages and race and socio-economic status, can we change education? Health care? Transform our neighborhoods?
These are the questions I'm ready to take-on. Let's do this!
